This year marks the inauguration of "The Eddy's", an award show honoring the winners of the Crank Out the WebCartoon Contest. Presented by KidsWebTv, creator of Eddy the Eco-Dog, the contest was developed to support the arts within technology. Crank Out entrants were invited to create award-winning Flash animation, using Eddy the Eco-Dog as the central character and Macromedia Flash 5 software as the animation tool. Found at www.kidswebtv.com and linked from www.macromedia.com, this year's contest attracted worldwide participation, from novices to cutting-edge web animators, from ages four to forty.

The high profile celebrities who have come on board to act as judges for the Crank Out contest and have some fun attending "The Eddy's" will lend their voices as cartoon-animated presenters and special guests at the awards ceremony.

Clips of "The Eddy's", formatted on Beta for television broadcast and screenshots of the cartoon, will be made available to media.

"The Eddy's" will premiere Tuesday, June 05, 2001, 12:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time at www.kidswebtv.com and runs until September 30, 2001.
